1508 Company Shop

1508 B.C.E. was the birth year of Hatchepsut, the first woman Pharaoh, who ruled for over 20 years. In order to achieve the respect that only men received, she wore a fake beard, headdress and traditional kilt, even demanding that she be depicted with a male body in glyphs. In this way, she was able to command her authority and gain the respect of those she reigned over. She transitioned from Queen to Pharaoh due to her great success and her ability to lead others. Later, after her death, Thutmose III destroyed all of her history, so he can ensure the throne was ruled by a man in subsequent years. Our company pays respect to the women of today who are, much like Hatchepsut, able to command the power of their femininity and realize the success of their trials.  For all those Queens out there who feel destroyed, powerless and overlooked, this brand believes in the power of YOU. May you feel bold and fearless in the pursuit of everything you deserve.
